Oh, You Pretty Thing

I discovered this Bowie tune this morning, from his Horky Dory album.

Doesn't one of the guitar players in the back bear striking resemblance to Cousin It?

Sugar Water

Cibo Matto made a random guest star appearance on a syndicated episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer the other night. They sang this song at the "Bronze Club". (sorry about the commercial. I could only find this on MTV.com)

This song brings back so many wonderful memories from the 1990s. It's crazy to think that this was made more than 10 years ago.

The 90s was a special time for trip-hop, downtempo, breakbeat and drum and bass music. From the 1990 - 1998, we experienced all of these fantastic things:

Massive Attack - Protection (1995)

Portishead - All Mine (1997)

Bjork - Hunter (1997)

Deep Dish and Tracey Thorn - Future of the Future (1998)

Daft Punk - Burnin' (1997)

Heads and Shoulders Above

I ran across this today on Ghost Ramp and got totally freaked out.

David Byrne is every character. I initially thought this was decades old, but turns out it was made by Jonathan Demme about 1 year ago.

David Byrne is so eccentric in this video, which is unusual for him. He reminds me of this character in Beetlejuice.

Finding Stuff Between the Sofa Cushions

I found this fiesty Latin Electro mix lying around in the dust bins. This mix is best enjoyed with a pineapple and a bad attitude.

Hey Michael

This is my second attempt at publishing this Michael Jackson remix. For some strange and mysterious reason, the post I published last Wednesday has completely disappeared from my Blogger dashboard. Does Google have something against the King of Pop?

It made me very sad and perplexed to see that my Michael Jackson mix had disappeared. I Googled the phrase "blogger post mysteriously disappears" and got a couple of vague incidences, but nothing concrete.

Also, on another issue, I just realized that my pre-scheduled drafts aren't posting on the dates I set them for. Bizarre. If anybody has information on these phenomena, email me - thanks.

Here we go again -->

Hell Yes! (I'm going to see CSS)

Tonight my lucky stars are shining very bright. My awesome friend Noelle got tickets for the sold out CSS show at Echoplex in Silverlake tonight.

I'm bringing my Polaroid camera - check back tomorrow for some extremely candid shots.

In commemoration of this exciting event, I've been rocking their remix of "The Bucket" by Kings of Leon all day..

Agnostic Techno Mix

In the spirit of the holiday season, Haizeeland presents a selection of completely secular, hedonistic, pleasure-seeking music for your listening enjoyment. I'm very excited to bring back Underworld's 'Born Slippy' from the dust bins. Also, the Moscow-based Proxy is causing quite a commotion these days. I've been on constant repeat with 'Dancing in the Dark'; a sublime track with an elegantly melodic vocal placed over a hardcore dub-step beat. I cut out the dub-step part in my mix, so check out the original here >

M.I.A. - Uraqt (Diplo Mix)
Digitalism - Idealistic (A-trak mix)

One more Andersson Post

This woman needs to have at least one of my babies.

Hummingbirds anyone?

Let's take a little departure from the usual electronic beats and blips you typically hear in Haizeeland and sample a bit of sweet Swedish folk-pop, courtesy of Theresa Andersson. I was on Aurgasm this morning and ran across this delightful little dose of sunshine. Theresa's voice fills me with a thousand little rainbow explosions and makes me nostaglic for days of yore. I'm not exactly sure what 'yore' is, but it's old school for sure.

The xylophone sounds in this song are magic.

Ah, the memories French House Mix

This little slice of nostalgia features a retrospective melody of house music from the past 8 years. "Music Sounds Better" was the first house song I'd ever heard and actually enjoyed. 8 years on, I'm guts- deep in house music and loving every minute of it.
